Kefaya serves as the participant liaison for the Stories of Hope, Stories from Palestine community genomics programme. In her role, she is the primary point of contact for study participants, guiding families through every stage of the research process. She coordinates participant recruitment, facilitates complex consent procedures, and manages records with meticulous care. Her work is grounded in a strong commitment to ethical practice, regulatory responsibility, and the principles of translational medicine. Kefaya has extensive experience working with individuals and families of children with special needs. Through this work she has built strong, trusted networks of community organisations and professionals supporting these families, strengthening pathways between research, clinical services, and community care.

She works closely with clinicians, families, and local partners to ensure the programme remains inclusive, culturally responsive, and grounded in community priorities. In addition to participant coordination, she contributes to project management and facilitates access to rehabilitation and healthcare services for participating families. Kefaya is also committed to education and public engagement. She collaborates with families to develop multimedia narratives that document lived experiences of rare disease, helping to connect scientific research with the realities of affected communities.
